Rotted Window Trim Repaired and Wrapped in Aluminum Flashing

Rotten window trim is one of those things that's easy to ignore - until it isn't. What starts as soft, peeling wood around a window opening can quickly become a moisture problem that works its way behind the siding and into the wall itself. We see it all the time, and the fix is almost always faster and cheaper when you catch it early.

Here's what we were working with - wood trim around a double-hung window that had seen better days. The paint was failing at the bottom sill, the wood had started to soften, and water had been getting in. Left alone, that kind of damage spreads. So we pulled the bad wood, made the necessary repairs, and wrapped the entire trim package in aluminum flashing.

Aluminum wrapping is the right call in situations like this. It eliminates wood as a material that can rot, warp, or peel, and it creates a tight, sealed edge all the way around the window frame. The finish is clean and low-profile - it sits flat against the siding and doesn't draw attention to itself. It just looks right.

What you end up with is a window that's protected for the long haul. No more painting the trim every few years. No more worrying about moisture sneaking in behind the frame. It's one of those upgrades that pays for itself in avoided headaches down the road.

If your window trim is starting to look rough - cracked, soft, or peeling at the edges - it's worth having someone take a look before winter sets in and moisture does more damage. This is exactly the kind of work we handle, and we're happy to walk you through what it involves.
