Rotted wood on a front entry doesn't announce itself loudly. It usually starts as soft spots underfoot, paint that won't stop peeling, or a corner that looks a little worse every season. Left alone, it becomes a structural problem - and eventually a safety one. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.

The original landing was completely deteriorated. The wood had rotted through, the surface was uneven, and there was no saving what was there. So we pulled it all out, rebuilt the framing from scratch, and started fresh with composite decking - the right call for any entry that takes constant foot traffic and weather exposure.

Composite is our go-to for situations like this. It doesn't rot, it doesn't need painting, and it holds up year after year without the maintenance headaches that come with wood. We went with a gray-toned board that complements the home's siding nicely - clean, sharp, and built to last.

The detail that ties the whole thing together is the picture-frame border running along all four edges. It's a finishing technique that gives the landing a polished, intentional look instead of just a flat surface with cut ends showing. It's a small thing, but it makes a real difference in how the finished product reads from the street or the front walk.

If your front entry is feeling soft, looks worn out, or you've been putting off dealing with it - this is the kind of work we do. New framing, quality composite material, and clean craftsmanship from the ground up.
